Introducing the HerStories Writing Circle.

Join a membership community for midlife women who write.

Midlife is hard enough. Don’t write your story alone..

Do you want to become a part of a community of like-minded midlife women who get you and your writing?

LEARN. CONNECT. GET INSPIRED.

YOU WANT TO LEARN AND GROW AS A WRITER AND TAKE ON NEW PROJECTS.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, isolated, and directionless.

YOU WANT TO DEVELOP AND SUSTAIN A NURTURING WRITING PRACTICE.

It’s hard to stay motivated when our lives at this stage have us feeling pulled in so many directions at once.

YOU WANT TO FIND COMMUNITY.

You’re tired of Facebook groups and Instagram feeds and want authentic connection.

“The HerStories Project offered a chance for me to join a brilliant tribe of women writers, granting us the opportunity to turn our varied experiences, feelings, and trials into storied works of art. Writing together with this incredible community of women writers is an experience I will always cherish.”

WHAT OUR WRITERS SAY:

“This workshop gave me the structure and companionship to step back into writing and to value what I write. It also gave me the opportunity to enjoy many other pieces of writing from women similar to me. It was a marvellous adventure with fellow travellers, where writing has otherwise felt too solitary in this physically-distanced time, and I am so grateful.”

Emma

“I loved the intimate and supportive nature of this class and the bravery demonstrated by my fellow participant writers. Jessica and Stephanie’s prompts challenged me creatively and also provided a space for inner reflection and personal healing. A profoundly transformative experience.”

Naomi

“The HerStories workshop got me to write after a long period of procrastination, but more importantly, it impelled me to re-engage the whole practice of writing. I was inspired to sit down and think about my writing, what I want to write, what I need to write, and how I should go about it. It gave me the gentle push I was looking for. Stephanie and Jessica honour every woman’s personal pathway to discovering what works for her. ”

Questions?

Jessica Smock and Stephanie Sprenger are the co-founders and co-editors of the HerStories Project, a publishing and writing community for midlife women.

We met online as “blogging friends” and then founded the HerStories Project in 2013. We’ve published five essay collections, led dozens of writing groups, and have taught writing to hundreds of female writers over the past several years.

It’s been our joy to work with midlife writers just like you. Our lives of juggling family and jobs and writing are much like yours. We know what it’s like, as midlife women, to want to carve out space in our lives for just ourselves.

You’ll receive an email with login details. You’ll also get clear next steps about how to get inside the membership and what to do first.

You can cancel your membership at any time. You can request a full refund if you request one in the first seven days of your membership.

One of your first tasks when you join the membership is to tell us about your writing goals. If you would like to join a small accountability group or be matched with a partner, we’ll match you on the basis of those goals.

That’s entirely up to you! We’ll help you figure out what kind of weekly writing schedule — a combination of prompts, exercises, discussions, and events — makes sense for you.

Inside the membership, you’ll get access to the core lessons of our Build a Writing Practice, Personal Essay Writing, and It’s Time For Your Book. We’ll also be adding lessons about platform building and publishing. If you would like personalized feedback, coaching, and editing as you proceed through the full version of each course, you can sign up for discounted rates inside the membership.
